Inicialment dedicat al <strong>carrossat de xass\u00eds<\/strong>, no va ser fins al <strong>1956<\/strong> que la companyia produ\u00ed el seu <strong>primer vehicle complet<\/strong>, combinant carrosseria pr\u00f2pia amb <strong>mec\u00e0nica Fiat<\/strong>. Des de llavors, <strong>Van Hool ha esdevingut una empresa familiar de refer\u00e8ncia<\/strong>, encara avui activa, i dirigida pels <strong>vuit fills del fundador<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El <strong>Van Hool A508<\/strong>, successor del <strong>model AU138<\/strong> i versi\u00f3 <strong>curta del conegut A500 de 12 metres<\/strong>, va ser <strong>dissenyat per a serveis urbans<\/strong> amb una clara orientaci\u00f3 cap a la <strong>comoditat i l\u2019accessibilitat<\/strong>. Amb una <strong>al\u00e7ada del pis de nom\u00e9s 500 mm<\/strong> respecte al terra i un <strong>\u00fanic gra\u00f3 d\u2019acc\u00e9s<\/strong>, suposava una millora notable en l\u2019acc\u00e9s al vehicle. Per aconseguir aquesta configuraci\u00f3, el <strong>motor es col\u00b7locava al lateral esquerre<\/strong>, sota els seients. El <strong>model es va produir entre 1988 i 2001<\/strong>, i aquest exemplar concret correspon a la <strong>fase 1 del model<\/strong>, identificable pels seus <strong>fars rodons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019any <strong>1992<\/strong>, <strong>Transports Ciutat Comtal (TCC)<\/strong> impuls\u00e0 a Barcelona una <strong>iniciativa pionera<\/strong> anomenada <strong>Tombbus<\/strong>. Aquesta l\u00ednia especial estava pensada per <strong>facilitar les compres a la Diagonal<\/strong>, i utilitzava <strong>autobusos de gamma m\u00e9s alta<\/strong>, amb <strong>acabats luxosos<\/strong> i fins i tot <strong>cabina telef\u00f2nica a bord<\/strong>, un detall molt innovador per a l\u2019\u00e8poca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El vehicle Van Hool A508 aqu\u00ed present va <strong>formar part de la flota inicial del Tombbus<\/strong>. Posteriorment, seria <strong>adaptat per al transport de passatgers en cadira de rodes<\/strong>, ampliant-ne la funcionalitat i continuant en servei en l\u00ednies convencionals.
